eHealth Action Plan 2012 - 2020
The European Commission launched a consultation on the eHealth Action Plan (eHAP) 2012-2020. This second eHealth Action Plan shall provide a longer term vision for eHealth in Europe. The deadline for the consultation is 25th May 2011.
The main topics to be addressed in the eHealth action plan are:
1. Increase awareness of the benefits and opportunities of eHealth, and empower citizens, patients and healthcare professionals
2. Address issues currently impeding eHealth interoperability
3. Improve legal certainty for eHealth
4. Support innovation and research in eHealth and development of a competitive European and global market.

European Commission consults on EU approach to research and innovation
The European Commission has published a "Green Paper on a Common Strategic Framework for future EU Research and Innovation Funding" and started a relevant consultation. The response deadline is May 20, 2011.
The Commission needs to prepare proposals for all of its funding programmes (beyond 2013), including support for research and innovation, by the end of 2011. This consultation on EU research and innovation, therefore, invites stakeholders to provide views to help the Commission develop its proposal in this area and to provide suggestions on how the funding instruments can be simplified. It aims to maximise the contribution of EU research and innovation funding to implementing the Innovation Union policy.
